Yangyang Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant
Underground power House
This project is aimed at a new settlement program for the 4 units of 250 MW Pumped Storage Power Station, which is located at Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do Province , Korea. Samwhan is carrying out civil works for the plant capable of producing approximately 2,000 GWH per year. Project is expected to be completed in 2006.

D)     Height = 52 m, Length = 247 m, Width = 52 m, Volume = 156,000 ㎥, Pondage = 9,222,000 ㎥ - Underground Power House ( Underground Cavern Type )     Height = 43.3 m, Length = 120 m, Width = 20 m, Excavation Volume = 101,711㎥ - Underground Transformer ( UnderGround Cavern Type )     Height = 33.9 m, Length = 119 m, Width = 19 m, Excavation Volume = 55,731 ㎥ - Power Tunnel     Vertical Tunnel = 757 m, Horizontal Tunnel = 1,361 m (Total = 2,118 m),     Steel Penstock Tunnel = 430 m, Access Tunnel = 1,914 m, Cable Tunnel = 1,835 m,     Tailrace Tunnel = 3,063 m, Work Adit Tunnel = 4,583 m, Total length of Tunnels : 15.2 ㎞ - Approach Road = 4,802 m - Management building and other incidental facilities - Mechanical & Electrical Works     Pump-Turbine : 265 ㎾ x 4 sets, Generator Motor : 4 sets, Speed Governor : 4 sets,     Pressure Oil Supply System : 4 sets & etc.
